Encova Insurance has an immediate opening for a Systems Analyst I or II for either our Columbus, Ohio or Charleston, WV location. In this role, you will work a hybrid schedule from either location and we can hire at multiple seniority levels depending on candidate qualifications.

Reports to Systems Analyst Team Lead | Business Analysis and Quality Assurance

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work within cross-functional groups to support all aspects of the SDLC: requirements, estimates, build, testing, deployment, and transition.
  • Partner with the business team, users, and customers to elicit requirements and issues.
  • Facilitate workshops to capture and analyze requirements, and break-down high-level information into details.
  • Illustrate key concepts through process descriptions, workflows, and use cases.
  • Analyze existing application/system components and code to determine feature gaps and vulnerabilities.
  • Work directly with third party solution providers to understand their products and develop technical system integration specifications.
  • Interact with designers to understand software limitations.
  • Work alongside developers to create system specifications.
  • Seek out new ideas to improve applications and infrastructure.
  • Work with business and QA to prepare test plans and evaluate test results for application implementations.
  • Collaborate with developers and business owners to ensure adherence to business specifications.
  • Create an integration solution document based on the business and technical requirements, workflow, data flows, data mappings and architectural design.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • On-call for production problem analysis and resolution.
  • Perform root cause analysis upon application failure.
  • Perform manual or automated application testing prior to quality assurance testing.
  • Seek and promote opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree required with a major in computer science or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge in formal requirements gathering.
  • Excellent analysis, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in developing stakeholder, solution and transitions requirements.
  • XML/XPath knowledge to create system integrations requirements leveraging Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Some experience or training in object oriented languages and SQL databases.
  • Agile or iterative software development methodology
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented individual able to work independently and on a team.
  • Training or knowledge in property and causality insurance, workers compensation insurance or accounting.
