Position Summary:

Manages the daily operation of all patient access functions in their assigned area. Implements and supports HSC process, policies and procedures. Works with the Patient Financial Services Director or Assistant Director of Patient Access and HSC support team in identifying opportunities for improvement in customer satisfaction, quality performance and fiscal responsibility.

Essential Functions:

Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels, consistent with budget guidelines and departmental needs.
Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with
performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs.

Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
Recommends resources, equipment, space needed by the department and may participate in the selection of new vendors or outside services.
Interviews candidates for employment and makes recommendations for hiring of new staff.
Monitors and maintains Up-Front Collection goals. Maintains productivity statistics for direct reports.
Evaluates staff requests for time off, holidays, vacation, sick time to ensure adequate staffing to cover patient care needs.
Initiates, edits and/or approves payroll or personnel documents.

Qualifications
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required
Prefer Associates Degree in Business, Health Care Administration or related field.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Ability to prioritize work assignments to meet varying, competing deadlines; time management and organizational skills.

Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computer, calculator, printer, copier, fax, scanner and telephone.

Must be available to be on-call to resolve issues or provide staffing coverage.
Minimum Work Experience
Three to five years of recent, progressive related experience in a healthcare setting. Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
