Position Summary:

Supervises and coordinates activities of personnel in food production and preparation for the patient care and cafeteria areas. Responsible for training and evaluation of personnel involved in food preparation and production. Responsible for departmental catering activities, working with Director and/or Chef to assure menus and production capability necessary to maintain quality catering operations. Responsible for review and maintenance of all standards of food safety and sanitation in work area. Responsible for coaching, resolving issues and providing direction to the Nutrition Service Staff.

Essential Functions:

Prepares and maintains departmental personnel and financial records including nourishments, patient tray counts, productivity, cafeteria sales, and catering functions on a daily basis
Maintains knowledge of diet office operations and assists management and clinical staff in communication and coordination of necessary activities of hosts/hostesses
Supervises, trains, and evaluates personnel in preparation and production for all departmental areas when regular supervisor is unavailable
Supervises and/or assists in the preparation and service of special dinners, or functions
Attends 75% of all departmental staff meetings

Reports to: Director of Nutritional Services

Qualifications
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Licenses
[West Virginia, United States] Other
Valid Food Service Worker Permit from the Beckley-Raleigh Co. Board of Health
Minimum Work Experience
Demonstrates ability to follow written and oral instructions. Capability to operate steam and/or electrical equipment. Prior experience with food service preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years experience in food service or food production environment. Hospital food service experience with exposure to modified diets preferred. Dietary Manager's or Dietetic Technician coursework sponsored by the ADA or healthcare supervisory experience preferred.
