Clinical Assistant Professor

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for this full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment in the School of Pharmacy with administrative, teaching, and clinical responsibilities at the WV Poison Center (WVPC) in Charleston, WV. This position is funded by the School of Pharmacy and the WVPC.

Responsibilities: The main administrative and service responsibilities of this position are to serve as the Director of the WVPC. Teaching within the West Virginia University (WVU) Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program is an essential component of this position and will include didactic instruction and experiential precepting with a focus on toxicology and emergency preparedness. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and occasionally lead various School of Pharmacy committees. The faculty member also has research/scholarship responsibilities, which include publishing, conference presentations, and obtaining grant and external funding to maintain WV Poison Center operations.

Qualifications

With the specialized nature of this position, the following are required:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy residency program.
  • Completion of a Clinical Toxicology Fellowship.
  • Diplomate status of the American Board of Applied Toxicology (ABAT); if status has not been achieved, the candidate must have submitted credentialing documents to the American Board of Applied Toxicology with successful passing of the examination within two attempts to maintain this position.
  • Pharmacy licensure in West Virginia will be required.
  • Excellent personnel, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals inside and outside of West Virginia University to meet programmatic goals.

Institution and Location: West Virginia University is a land grant, Carnegie-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive institution, with approximately 23,000 undergraduate, 5,000 graduate, and 1,600 professional students. The Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health. This faculty position will be housed in the WVU Charleston Health Sciences Campus, which includes the WVPC. Periodic travel to the Morgantown campus is required.
WVU's Charleston Health Sciences campus is a regional campus of the West Virginia University located in the state's capital city. WVU students from various health-related degree programs receive education and training on this campus in WVU-affiliated clinics and at the Charleston Area Medical Center.
